EGiM // ”LOVE THE WAY YOU PLAY” // HARTWALL ARENA // APRIL 21ST, 2018

Our wonderful collaboration with Finnish Floorball Federation continues! EGiM will be part of The Super Finals of Finnish floorball in Hartwall Arena, Helsinki on April 21st, 2018. We have composed the theme song for this great event and organization. The Super Finals’ ”Pre-game show” includes the spectacular premiere of the song called ”Love the way you play”. It has recorded and produced with Mikko P. Mustonen at Pathos Music and ToneHills studios. The Arena poster was made with graphic designer Simo Heikkinen.

”We are very honored to have this great opportunity. It’s been so inspiring to produce EGiM things the ”Love the way you play” slogan in our minds. With this motivational ”power” song we really want to unite the forces from worlds of sports and culture. ”Love the way you play” is full of strong film score and rock elements so the premiere at Hartwall Arena will be huge, epic and everything!”

EGiM // ”LOVE THE WAY YOU PLAY” // HARTWALL ARENA // 21.4.2018

Yhteistyömme Suomen Salibandyliiton kanssa saa huimaa jatkoa, sillä EGiM on isosti mukana huhtikuussa Hartwall Arenalla järjestettävässä Superfinaali 2018 -spektaakkelissa. Olemme säveltäneet tilaustyönä tapahtumaan räätälöidyn teemakappaleen ”Love the way you play”, jonka ensiesitys tapahtuu osana Superfinaalin ”Pre-game show’ta”. Kappale on äänitetty ja tuotettu yhteistyössä Mikko P. Mustosen kanssa Pathos Music ja ToneHills Studio -studioilla. Arena-juliste rakenneltiin yhdessä graafikko SImo Heikkisen kanssa.

”EGiM on unelmaproggiksen äärellä kohdatessaan tämän ainutlaatuisen tilaisuuden. On ollut äärimmäisen inspiroivaa tuottaa materiaalia valmiin sloganin ympärille sekä yhdistää urheilu ja kulttuuri tämän ”tsemppi”-kappaleen keinoin. ”Love the way you play” on massiivinen teos täynnä voimallisia elementtejä ja sen esittäminen huhtikuussa Hartwall Arenalla on helposti yhden ison haaveen toteutuminen!”

The story behind the song – The Scream

The story behind the song - The Scream

The Scream was made in the middle of autumn while romanticizing that dying Finnish nature. We tuned the good old Telecaster to Drop C tuning and started to play around with these rhythmic high-gain riffs. Quite soon we noticed that these ”not so serious” metal elements worked pretty well with the electro layers and patterns we already had. After figuring out the arrangements for the band we wanted to add these striking orchestrations with nice accents and hooks. It felt necessary to mix that kind of new angle to the rolling riffs and bass drum rhythms. Elisa Järvelä’s epic violin was a clear choice to bring that melancholic chorus melody alive. After the trumpet player Mikko Pettinen said yes to the collaboration we were able to carry out our wild plan for that intsrumental C part - dialogue between horns and strings! Read more

The story behind the song – Mayday

The story behind the song - Mayday

This song is another based on true story kind of thing to EGiM collection. Mayday is an abstract adventure through the world of unexpected turn of events million miles away from home. The name Mayday collects a few meaningful details together too. Of course it refers to our band’s name but at the same time it supports that thematic emergency aspect behind the Fallmarks. It’s also the date when all these things really happened, on May 1.

The story behind the song – Ghostwriter

The story behind the song - Ghostwriter

The tracklist of Fallmarks is chronological. So after finishing the starter song Rebooted it was time to arrange this weird palette of electro music under the name of EGiM. We worked throughout the one weekend in September and finally figured out how to play these shades with the band. We were definitely hooked on the melodic side of the song so we really wanted to get it work with full EGiM sound. The latest version of Ghostwriter includes these nice elements like rhythmic bass lines, electric soundscapes and textures and cheap synth sounds here and there. These things really reminds us of early days with this song. Read more

The story behind the song – Rebooted

The story behind the song - Rebooted

Rebooting the human mind and self-image or identity 2.0 were those starting points for Rebooted in lyric-wise. The song with pulsing beat and the wide range of emotional expression opens the door to the world of Fallmarks. With such a determined touch it introduces all these vibes from minimal parts to monumental elements. The first moment in creation process was definitely strong and effective at this time. Eetu just presented that playful theme melody while Olli was hitting the pulsing drum beat on the top of piano. After that the production got just bigger and bigger and finally we had this 5-minute film score rock song with the touch of dramatic red of torch. Read more

”REBOOTED” SINGLE ON MARCH 31 & FALLMARKS EP ON APRIL 8

EVERY GREEN IN MAY - ”REBOOTED” SINGLE ON MARCH 31 & FALLMARKS EP ON APRIL 8

Every Green in May, also known as EGiM, continues these short thematic productions with the release of a four piece Fallmarks EP on Saturday 8th April!
Before the official release date we’re unveiling the opening track of the EP, “Rebooted”, which we release with a documentary music video commemorating Fallmarks recordings on Friday 31st March. Carrying strong movie and game score elements together, with the traditional band concept, re-creates the EGiM sound in 2017. But we’ve raised the bar this time, since this new release introduces a more daring, determined and fun EGiM. There are guest appearances by violinist Elisa Järvelä who charmed the audience on Skyend, and trumpet player Mikko Pettinen who plays in the UMO Jazz Orchestra. As studio wizard, Mikko P. Mustonen returns as assisting producer and orchestral arranger. Read more

Welcome to the new EGiM website!

The new EGiM website is now live!

Soon after the Skyend was released we received a very interesting mail from our graphic designer Simo Heikkinen. Even though we’ve worked together since our debut release City Ghost’s Club his offer was something very special this time. He wanted to choose the visual side of EGiM as a topic for his thesis.
